Roots Wine Bar is more than a neighborhood destination for wine, food, connection, and experiences in Houston. We believe great wine should be approachable, interesting, and fun to discover, whether you already know exactly what you l ove or are still figuring it out.

Our wine program highlights sustainably grown and thoughtfully made wines, hidden gems from small producers, women winemakers, and labels with stories worth sharing.

Roots was the first wine bar in Houston to introduce a self-guided wine-tasting experience using automated dispensing technology. Guests receive a wine card and can explore dozens of wines through 1 oz., 3 oz., or 5 oz. pours, making it easy to taste something new before committing to a full glass or bottle. Our selections rotate regularly, so there is always something new to discover.

A New Chapter at Roots

Roots has been owned by entrepreneur Suzani Asmlash Grant and her partners since 2024. Originally from Ethiopia, Suzani built her Houston entrepreneurial legacy through Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant, which she opened in 2012 and which was later recognized by Houstonia Magazine among the city's notable restaurants.

Catherine Garcia Flowers serves as Managing Partner,

leading day-to-day operations, guest experience,

events, partnerships, and the next phase of growth

at Roots.

Together, Suzani and Catherine are shaping the next chapter of Roots, one centered not only around great wine, but around hospitality, food, culture, conversation, and community.

Roots also offers a thoughtfully evolving food menu designed to complement the wine experience, along with private and semi-private gatherings, curated events, wine experiences, social clubs, and community partnerships.
